Riverwood Volleyball Sweet Sixteen at State

The Varsity Lady Raiders Volleyball Team finished in the Sweet Sixteen at State this year after finishing 3rd in the Area behind Westminster and Blessed Trinity.  The Raiders played a very strong Apalachee team in the first round.  The season’s hard work and dedication to develop as a team all came together recently on their home court defeating Apalachee 3-1 in a thrilling match.

The Lady Raiders met the toughest opponent of the year in the second round of the tournament facing Columbus, the #1 ranked team in the state.  While Riverwood was unable to get past Columbus dropping the match 0-3, the coaches and team were pleased with their execution of plays and commitment to excellence.

The 2007 volleyball team had strong leadership from senior outside hitter, Kate Waldron, and senior defensive player, Liza Arogetti. Junior libero player, Stephanie Goldstein, represented the Lady Raiders making the All Area team.  Also, outstanding for the Lady Raiders was junior middle hitter, Anna Mills, sophomore outside hitter, Susie Robinson, and two freshmen players, Michelle Johnson, middle hitter, and Callie Johnson, setter.
